Sutton, Alaska serves as home-base for Hamilton’s Alaska operations. Here, Hamilton stages resources and equipment to support our Alaska projects as well as offices for our permanent Hamilton team headed by Project Managers John Szymik and Jesse Peterson. The facility includes a five-acre yard, heated warehouse for storage of cranes and larger equipment, and office space. This, combined with Hamilton’s corporate resources allows us to provide a full range of bridge, highway interchange, and rail bridge design and construction services.
Hamilton established its knowledge and familiarity with the state more than three decades ago. In the 1970’s we started contracting with the US Forest Service and private timber companies to build and install more than 450 Hamilton-patented prefabricated bridges (EZ Bridges) throughout Alaska.
Our more recent construction experience has included work on the Seward Highway where we recently completed the Trail River, Falls Creek and Ptarmigan Creek bridge replacements.
We are also proud to have been selected by the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities as Alaska’s first CM/GC partner on the Parks Highway MP 237 Riley Creek Bridge Replacement at the gateway to Denali Park. CM/GC (Construction Management/General Contractor) delivery involves the construction contractor’s early involvement with the job during the design and pre-construction phase. As “hands-on” contractors we are able to bring our practical experience for constructability reviews and lessons learned through 75 years of experience to the design of the project with the ultimate goal of delivering the job more efficiently and at less cost. We are enjoying working with ADOT&PF and look forward to beginning construction later this year.
